Social Risk Capital Grants MDF distributes Social Risk Capital Grants to voluntary and community groups of and for disabled people across Merseyside on behalf of the European Social Fund and the Objective One on Merseyside programme.
A large number of groups have been awarded these grants over the past five years.

Consultations and information in Merseyside Districts, 2005 In early 2005 MDF arranged events in Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral to help Merseyside Police Authority, and to spread information about funding for groups of and for disabled people.

The European Year of Disabled People (EYDP) The European Union designated 2003 as the European Year of Disabled People, to celebrate the achievements of disabled people throughout Europe, and to highlight need for further progress and change. MDF got together one of the largest programmes of EYDP events in the UK.

EYDP - Sports and Leisure We held a Family Fun Day at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool September 2003 as part of the EYDP.

EYDP - Independent Living A conference and exhibition on Independent Living - and especially on the financial support that can help that become a reality - formed part of the EYDP programme of events, and saw the launch of a toolkit we developed to help disabled people prepare for an assessment of their needs.

EYDP - Learning to Earning We developed a CD of information, designed to help disabled people in Merseyside thinking about making a change in their life - such as going into employment, education or training or taking up volunteering. This has now been incorporated into our website.

EYDP - Tourism for All We held a conference for Tourism businesses in January, 2004. The conference title was "Why would I want disabled customers?" to which our answer was simple - "to increase your turnover and profits".

EYDP - Young People in Europe Six young disabled people made a five-day visit to The Netherlands and Belgium to see how things were done differently, and to meet decison-makers in Brussels, with a view to sharing that information with other people on Merseyside.
